The Company is in the business of manufacturing and deploying plants for recycling waste tires into commodity products through pyrolysis. This segment operates between several separate industries, notably the tire industry, the rubber manufacturing industry, the oil industry, the natural gas industry, and the steel recycling industry. The operating plants take in waste off the road tires (OTR), and produces salable commodity products. The Company controls the patented technology that allows tires to be recycled through pyrolysis. The Company designs and manufactures the machinery and plants that are necessary to make the process work. Hitec's subsidiaries operate individual plants that take in tires that are no longer able to be used or retreaded, and convert them into four distinct product streams: reclaimed carbon, pyrolysis oil, synthetic gas, and steel. Each subsidiary is closely affiliated with, or partnered with companies that have the need to dispose of large quantities of OTR tires. These include OTR tire retread companies, high-use OTR tire operators such as mines, and waste facilities that collect tires for landfill.
