SWIFT Code Lookup

A SWIFT code (sometimes called a BIC number) is a standard format for a Business Identifier Code (BIC). It is used to identify banks and Financial Institutions worldwide. It shows their identity and location - an international banking code or identity document.

These codes are used to transfer money between banks, especially international telegraphic transfers or SEPA payments. Banks also use these codes to exchange messages between each other.

SWIFT stands for the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication. It is a global network that processes payments between countries. BIC stands for Bank Identifier Code, which refers to a set of numbers that can be used to send international payments.

In practice, many people use "BIC" and "SWIFT" interchangeably to describe the Global Payment code.

Banks use SWIFT codes to identify themselves and their customers in order to send or receive money. If you make an international telegraphic transfer, you need the recipient's SWIFT code to send them money. Without it, your bank may not be able to process the transfer.
